Bad Weather Policy:
It is the decision of each coach and/or club whether their team should attempt to travel to a tournament in bad weather. However, MLK 2010 will not be cancelled due to a bad weather. Teams deciding not to attend MLK 2010 tournament will not receive a refund of their tournament entry fee. In addition, those teams must notify the Memphis Metro prior to the tournament that they will not participate or they may be subject to further monetary sanctions.
Pools for Saturday play as well as for Sunday brackets will be published on Thursday online at AES web site as well as with a link from this web site. Please do not call for the info since pool wave assignment can still be changed.
Hard copy of pools and brackets will be available at the team check-in table on Friday from 6-9 PM and on Saturday from 8-11 AM in Memphis Cook Convention Center.
TOURNAMENT
FORMAT:
2-Day Tournament
will begin on Saturday, January 30, 2010. A wave play format will
be used with the morning wave beginning at 8:00 AM and the afternoon
wave beginning at 2:00 PM. All teams will play both days, AM and
PM waves will be assigned after entry deadline. The tournament Bracket
Play on Sunday, January 31, 2010 will start at 8:00 AM.
PLAY
LOCATION:
All divisions,
all age groups will be played at Memphis Cook Convention Center
located at 255 N Main Street, Memphis, TN 38103. All courts will
be located in NW, SW and E Halls.
AGE DIVISIONS (Girls and Boys):
The tournament will offer competition in these age divisions:
10 Club, 11 Club, 12 Club
13 Club, 13 Open, 14 Club, 14 Open, 15 Club, 15 Open, 16 Club,
16 Open, 17 Club, 17 Open, 18 Club, 18 Open
ENTRY FEE & ENTRY PROCESS:
The entry fee
for 2010 event is $425. To enter the MLK 2010:
1.) go to the Registration link on the left for complete details
on the entry process and requirements
or
2.) For MLK 2010 you can use AES
registration site. Since this choice was added only recently
we will accept BOTH registration options for MLK
2010. However, this means that AES site is not going to have listed
all teams registered for the tournament. We will post manually registered
teams on our Registered Teams page.
If you are new
to AES please follow this instructions.
NUNBER
OF TEAM ENTRIES:
Last year MLK
2009 was a sold-out event with 119 teams hosted on 15 courts and
several teams on the waiting list. This year's event will be able
to be even bigger with a planned 25 courts. All entries will be
accepted until deadline,however, the event reserves the right to
change the number or date as necessary to accomodate requests and
provide the best competition format in each age division. Please
enter as soon as possible in order to optimaly plan the format as
well as to avoid placement on the waiting list.
TRAINERS
AND MEDICAL RELEASES:
There will be certified trainer and EMS at the location within the
playing venue provided by Memphis Metro and MCCC. They will
provide services and supplies. Do not wait until the last minute
to have your players report to the medical tent to be taped as play
will not be delayed.
All coaches are required to have a Medical Release Form for each
player with them at all times. The representative of the team
will be required to sign a statement at Team Check-In, which verifies
that the forms are in their possession.
EHIBITOR
DISPLAYS:
Exhibitors
will be open on Saturday for browsing and sales and will be open
during the time of the event.
COOLERS:
No outside food and coolers of any kind or size will be permitted in the CCC. Neither
MLK 2010 or the CCC will assume responsibility for coolers or providing
a place for them. Please leave them at your hotel or in your
car.
CHAIRS & LARGE BAGS (Lugguage):
Seating inside the hall around the courts is provided. Chairs, large
bags and luggage will not be permitted inside the playing hall.
COACH CERTIFICATION:
For all divisions, one coach, with Impact or higher certification,
must be on the bench with the team at all times. (See the Delta
Region USAV Tournament Manual for particulars.)
